Learn from your Mistakes
If you want to be a good poker player there are many things that you will have to do. One of the most important is to learn from your mistakes. When it comes down to it you will make mistakes no matter what type of poker you are playing, or where you are playing at. This goes for both newcomers to the world of poker, as well as those players who have been competing for years. For this reason, you need to embrace the mistakes that are going to come up as opposed to getting worked up if you happen to cross them

The first thing that you need to know about learning from your mistakes is how to pinpoint them. After all, if you do not know how to identify your mistakes you will never be able to deal with them in the future. This means that you should not run if you happen to make a few mistakes. Instead, find out what they are all about and then move on from there. Remember, there is nothing wrong with admitting that you have screwed up. Simply put, it is a part of the game that you are just going to have to deal with.
Another way to learn from your mistakes is to keep a log book. Okay, this may sound a bit silly to you, but the fact of the matter is that it can be quite useful in helping to hone your skills later on down the road. When you log your mistakes you will be able to go back after each game and learn from what you did wrong. Nobody likes to look at their mistakes, but all in all it is a very important thing to do. A log book of mistakes does not have to be anything fancy. A simple notebook in which you can write anything you want should do.
Finally, make learning from your mistakes fun. So many poker players hate this part of the process because it means that they did something wrong. But if you think about it, there is also a lot of good that can come from making mistakes. When you make a common mistake you can then do whatever it takes to make sure that it is avoided next time. This will make things much easier on you in the long run, and in turn make you a much better player to say the least.
Overall, mistakes are not always a bad thing when it comes to playing poker. Sure, you want to avoid errors at all costs, but with that being said do not become so afraid of them that you mess up your entire game. Instead, you will want to learn from every mistake that you make. If you do this you will surely notice that you are becoming a much better poker player. And this is what you are trying to do, right?
